Applying for your provisional licence

  • The first step to get you on the road is completing DVLA form D2, this is the application form for a provisional category D1 photo card driving licence.
  • Next you need to book a PCV  medical examination with a Doctor. The Doctor will need to complete DVLA form D4. You should then send off your category B (car) licence, D2 and D4 forms to the DVLA in Swansea.
  • DVLA forms D2 and D4 are available from your local DVLA office or from Halls Travel & Training on request.

Booking your theory test

  • Once you have received your PCV provisional driving licence back from the DVLA you are then able to book your Module 1 Theory test.
  • Theory test centres can be located, and bookings made via www.direct.gov.uk or by telephone on 0300 200 1122.
  • In order to pass your Driver Module 1 theory we recommend you study the following material: www.drivingtheory4all.co.uk
  • Upon passing your theory test we can start practical training.

PCV Driving Test

  • In preparation for your practical driving test we will cover all aspects required by the Driving Standards Agency Syllabus. Items covered will include vehicle safety check questions, driving on urban & rural roads, procedures at bus stops, dual carriageways, motorways and off road reversing.
  • Halls Travel & Training are registered with the DSA as a training provider and are able to book PCV driver tests. Testing conditions can be based on a ratio of two students to one instructor or one student to one instructor at the request of the company/individual.
